Branding.

Except to those of you moonlighting as ranch hands, the term “branding” probably most often calls to mind a corporate logo – the symbol on a product or building.

But beyond identity, what is the importance of a brand?  And what makes a brand strong?

In a word, consistency.

When used consistently, a brand is shorthand for communicating a company’s personality, character, quality, and brand promise.  With no additional explanation, well-known brand symbols evoke expectations. For example:

Golden arches = McDonalds = fast, affordable, family-friendly food 

NFL logos, national flags, etc. can evoke strong responses with no words necessary.

You get the idea.

Careful attention to brand usage strengthens the message and identity of the company.  This depends on each employees’ dedication to upholding and ensuring customer experience and fulfilling that brand promise. When a customer sees our logo, is their expectation that of a positive and consistent experience – from each staff member, across all departments and all business units?

During this time of corporate change, this is particularly important. Mergers and acquisitions can raise questions and have a potentially unsettling effect on customer attitudes. Times like this require additional attention to detail to ensure stability and consistency in the mind of the customer.

It’s essential to quickly establish the new name and let customers know they can still expect consistent responses to their requests – from the people they know and trust.  This will begin to define the meaning of the new Regal Rexnord brand.  So as we move into our first full year as Regal Rexnord, lets double down on our efforts to consistently display and define the brand – in our quotes, our emails, voice messages and all customer-facing communication.
